Maybe they got blown off course by the hurricanes and landed somewhere else, but this year, they're back. Not the prettiest of birds, but congenial enough that they're happy sharing with the rest of the feathered residents of Naples the many small lakes and trees that dot the communities around town. From a distance, when there's a flock in the trees, it looks like it's been snowing. Even my mother, Mona, excited about their return, called me the other day shouting, " The birds are back again, they're back."

So what's the big deal? Well, if the Wood Storks have returned, perhaps they are a sign that other birds are going to return in droves again to Naples. If so, then this season Naples is going to be visited by lots of Snow Birds and tourists.

Snow Birds and Wood Storks. Welcome Back to Naples.
